Nimble capture is a browser extension for Chrome (also available for Firefox and Safari) which allows users to take screenshots and screencasts of websites. It enables users to capture full-page screenshots, selected areas, or record screen activity on any webpage. Nimble capture protects your privacy by processing all captures locally on your device and only uploading them when you choose to do so.
The technology is based on browser APIs that allow for screen capture and recording. Any capture or recording happens on your computer, and we do not see or track the content unless you explicitly choose to upload or share it. For this purpose, it is necessary for the extension to have the permission to access your screen content and browser tabs.
Hence, we collect and process (personal) data:
Please direct any privacy inquiries to support@nimblecapture.com.
When using the website http://www.nimblecapture.com for information purposes only, i.e. when no action is taken on the website, no personal data is collected, except for the data that your browser automatically transmits to enable you to visit the website. This includes, for example, the browser used, the IP address.
These data are generally processed on the basis of legitimate interests in accordance with Art 6 para 1 lit f) GDPR, namely, to optimize the website and to ensure security and stability, as well as to be able to identify and prosecute misuse. This data is stored for a period of 14 days.
Information collected during the download/install process
When downloading the Extension, certain required information can be transmitted to the respective browser store selected by you (e.g. Chrome Web Store), which can include the ID of your account, the e-mail address, the time of the download or installation and the individual device identification number. This data is processed exclusively by the respective store and is beyond our control. You will therefore find more detailed information on this data processing in the data protection declaration of the respective store operator.
Information processed by using Nimble capture
After installing Nimble capture, an individual ID is being assigned to each user. Based on this ID we collect and process statistical, i.e. anonymized or non-personal data, including the number of users, the approximate location of users (maximum to city level), and which websites were captured or recorded. The location is derived from the user's IP-Address, which will be deleted 7 (seven) days after retrieving the location data.
We look at the aggregated usage statistics to better understand where Nimble capture needs improving, monitor overall speed issues and error rates. We consider language and other local information to determine what possible localizations would be most useful to our users and to improve the extension functionality in different geographics.
We only process non-personal data in this regard. Where personal data is processed, e.g. the IP-Address for a short period to derive the location, these data are generally processed on the basis of legitimate interests in accordance with Art 6 para 1 lit f) GDPR, namely, to gain insights about the usage of our Services, optimize the Services and to ensure security and stability, as well as to be able to identify and prosecute misuse.
The Extension requires a certain number of permissions so you can enjoy its full potential. For security reasons we use the narrowest permissions available to still provide you the full functionality. These permissions are:
In addition to the storage or retention periods specified in detail in the explanations of the individual processing purposes, data is generally not stored for longer than it is necessary for the purpose to which it was collected, to fulfill our contractual or legal obligations or to assert, exercise or defend legal claims, in particular to defend against possible claims for liability.
In addition to the recipients specifically mentioned in the explanations of the individual processing purposes, (personal) data are transmitted to the following recipients:
As a data subject, you have the right to request access to your processed personal data, its source and recipients and the purpose of the data processing, as well as the right to rectification, data portability, restriction of processing, and blocking or deletion of incorrect or illegally processed data at any time.
Where personal data are processed for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object to such processing at any time. In addition, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of your personal data based on Article 6 para 1 lit e) or f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation. You also have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time with future effect.
Please address any inquiries regarding the exercise of your above-mentioned rights and any withdrawal of your consent by e-mail to the contact details stated above in section 2. Please consider that you can also change your personal and subscription data in your user account.
If you are of the opinion that the processing of your personal data violates the applicable data protection law or your data protection rights have been violated in any other way, you have the right to complain to the competent supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Data Protection Authority.
This privacy policy may be changed and updated regularly. If necessary, you will be asked again, for example via the Cookies settings or comparable technologies, to take note or renew your consent.
